EPISTLE
Dear Friends all over the world,
We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Amen.
Wangulu friends church was founded in 1961 by the late Samuel Lijoodi, Matthew Mulamula and Paul Kivisi among others. The church is situated along Chavakali-Kapsabet road, branching at Vokoli junction opposite Moi Girls High School-Vokoli. It is approximately 1 ½ kms along Vokoli-Lusui road. Its is located in Kisatiru sub-location, West Maragoli location, Sabatia Division, Vihiga District in Western Province of Kenya.
Wangulu was named after an old famous man by the name Angulu. He was assembling people to meet at a tree for worshiping. The inhabitants of the place are Maragoli sub-tribe Luhyas. They experience tropical type of climate. They practice mixed farming. That’s growing cash crops and livestock keeping on small-scale basis.
The delegates arrived at 2:00 p.m. and the meeting was put in order by the chairman Young Friends Programme Pastor, Jackson Kidusu who welcomed the General Secretary- Chavakali Yearly Meeting Elijah Mwavali who officially opened the conference at 4:30 p.m. He read Romans 11:1-6 and also Isaiah 6:7 among others. Registered Delegates were two hundred (200). The total number of daily attendants were approximately 500-700 church members.
Among topics covered were:
- Christian giving by pastor Noel Angalika
- HIV/AIDS by pastor Bernard Igaditsi
- Obstacles in the church by Seth Chayunga
- Church administration by pastor Noah Litu
- Courtship and marriage by Madame Gladys Lumanye
- Deliverance by Evangelist Anne Adisa Sagala
The main speaker, pastor Abraham Madegwa of Kabete Monthly meeting strengthened the theme by reading from the Gospel of John 15:4, Jeremiah 33:3, 1st Corinthians 16:13.
Those who repent and call unto him will be saved and see great things. During difficulties he will lift them up. The speaker expounded on the theme by stressing to call unto the Lord. He said we have to abide in Jesus and bear fruits.
Though there are pains in salvation we have to persist. In order to overcome temptation 1st Chronicles 4: 9- 10. Many people got saved and miracles happened where the sick got healed, and the power of the Holy Ghost moved in the midst.
We were blessed with visitors from the F.U.M. office-Kisumu (John Muhanji) among others. The closing minute was officially read by pastor Jackson Kidusu- chairman Young Friends programme- Chavakali Yearly Meeting of Friends Church by quoting from the book of Matthew 28:18. He urged the youth to go and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ the Lord and God and gave the final prayer to the Youth Conference.
